FAQ

Choosing Your Class Experience

What is a typical Smart Money Smart Kids class like?

For members who take the class at a location such as a church or business, the class coordinator will start with the video lesson. After the video is complete, class discussions will occur. After the weekly class, families watch additional videos and work together at home on the activities. These will be discussed at the following class.

What is the class structure?

I have enrolled in a class.

When you are taking the class with a group, there are two parts to the class: the in-class experience and the online experience.

In-Class Experience

Each class session includes two video segments: the Principle video and the Key Character Quality video. We simply refer to them as Part 1 and Part 2. Part 1 provides an overview of the topic, while Part 2 offers Rachel's take on a specific key character quality kids need to develop. In between the videos, there are reflection questions in your workbook and group discussion questions led by your coordinator.

Online Experience

It's important for you to understand that each lesson of Smart Money Smart Kids goes beyond the walls of your classroom and continues online. The full online experience will be available before classes begin. This includes:

  • Age-Specific Deep Dive Videos
  • Age-Specific Activities
  • And Our "Mom's Corner" with Videos from Sharon Ramsey

I am taking the class at home.

If you are taking the class at home, be sure to follow along in the member workbook, but you have the option to go at your own pace. The class is divided into three major segments: Principle teaching, Key Character Quality videos, and Application.

The workbook will guide you through the Principle teaching and Key Character Quality videos, giving you the opportunity to answer follow-up reflection questions or do activities associated with the teaching. You will see these videos referred to as Part 1 and Part 2.

In the Application section you will again be guided by your workbook for the class experience. This includes:

  • Age-Specific Deep Dive Videos
  • Age-Specific Activities
  • And Our "Mom's Corner" with Videos from Sharon Ramsey

How can I improve the video playback?

If your video has buffering issues (stutters while playing) and is hard to see, here are some tips to improve the video experience.

    • Strong Wifi Connection. Be sure you are on a good Wifi connection. A weak connection will cause the video to load slowly, causing buffering issues. You can move your computer closer to the router or use a wired connection (LAN) to increase your broadband connection strength.
    • Full Screen Mode. Watch the video in full screen mode by placing your mouse over the video. The video controls will display. Click on the full screen icon located on the far right of the control bar of the video.
    • Change Video Quality. You can change the video to any of the three (3) quality resolutions: 1200, 700, and 400. To change the video quality, place your cursor over the video and the controls will display. Place your mouse over the "HD" icon. For fast broadband connections, choose 1200 or 700. If you have a slow internet connection, choose 400, as it will load quicker.
Is there an app for Smart Money Smart Kids?

No, there is not an app, but we did spend time making sure that you would have an amazing experience on a mobile device or tablet. You can watch all of the videos and do all of the activities on your mobile device, as well as on your desktop!
